As a psychologist, play therapist, coauthor, and mom, I’ve seen firsthand how screens can pull kids away from the simple joys of childhood: play, curiosity, imagination, and connection. In my work with families, I hear the same worries again and again: children struggling with anxiety, sleep, focus, and relationships as screens take up more and more space in their lives.
I believe childhood should be a time to explore, build friendships face-to-face, and discover the world with wonder. Smartphones can wait. Kids need presence, movement, and meaningful human connection.
That’s why I’m proud to support Unplugged Canada, standing alongside parents, educators, and communities who want to protect childhood and give kids what they truly need to thrive.
