As a parent of four young children, I am deeply passionate about becoming an ambassador for UnpluggedCanada.com. With my oldest entering the age where smartphones and social media are becoming increasingly prevalent, I have immersed myself in books and articles that highlight the alarming statistics on the negative impacts these technologies can have on young minds.
I believe that tackling this issue requires a collective effort, beginning with parents and extending to school leaders. A bottom-up approach led by families, combined with a top-down strategy from school administrations, creates a powerful framework for change. I see UnpluggedCanada.com as an invaluable tool to help me stay accountable and to provide my children with the best possible environment for success.
Beyond my role as a parent, I actively serve on various boards and charitable organizations, deeply committed to advancing their missions. I am currently a member of the Board of Directors of the SickKids Foundation and co-founder of The Tourney, an annual golf and pond hockey tournament in support of children’s charities. Previously, I served on the boards of the CAMH Hospital Foundation and the SickKids Campaign Cabinet, and I also co-chaired the Barrie to Baycrest annual bike ride.
