I'm a Toronto-based mom of four applying my expertise in research and analysis to support policy discussions on child digital safety. I started on this journey after seeing the negative impacts in my own community. We have a choice and we can do better.
Using my 17+ years of experience synthesizing complex information and examining emerging technology and market trends, I'm building evidence-based cases for policy change and co-leading a federal petition calling for a social media minimum age of 16 as part of a layered solution.
Just as we approach road safety by engineering safer cars (platform accountability), setting age limits for driving (age minimums), and teaching driver's education (digital literacy), addressing social media's clear harms requires the same comprehensive approach.
This experience has been truly inspiring. I've gotten to meet with dozens of MPs, Senators, and multiple Ministers' offices. I'm encouraged by the strong interest and global momentum, as NATO countries from Norway and the UK to the EU and the US move to legislate social media age minimums alongside platform accountability measures to ensure the products given to our kids are safe for them.
