With 20 years of experience in the tech industry, from building BlackBerrys to working with AI and creating applications to flag and remove harmful content on social media, I appreciate the incredible benefits technology can bring but deeply understand the harms it can cause, especially to a young developing mind.
As a mom of two young children, my husband and I take a “tech intentional” approach within our family and are committed to delaying the introduction of smartphones and social media until high school to preserve our children’s mental health and social development.
As a co-founder of the Nova Scotia Chapter of Unplugged Canada, I’m passionate about creating awareness of the impacts of introducing smartphones too early and helping create a community of parents to support each other through this new era of parenting in a digital world.
